Amy grew up in a small town 10 miles from the Canadian border. Or, as her dad would say, "6 miles by bird and 10 by road!" She spent a majority of her childhood ice fishing, jumping hay bales, and playing tag (pronounced like baaaag). Growing up, Amy was always very curious and asked many “who, what, when, where and why” questions. It was through this gift of curiosity that she began to question her faith. The Lord brought key people into her life and soon Amy became alive in her own faith. She began to realize that this adventure of life was not meant to be lived with just her, but she had a Friend who wanted to be along for the ride. The Lord has certainly led her on an adventure!
After high school Amy spent a year at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN, and then spent two years sharing the Gospel with high school students through NET Ministries. After these two years of service Amy finished her undergraduate education in Psychology and Catholic Studies at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. She was able to get plugged into SPO and lived in Household her first year. Her final year at St. Thomas Amy was called to serve though Campus Ministry as a Peer Minister. She found the tremendous gift it was to actually walk with other women in their faith journey as so many had with her. It was through this experience that the Lord planted seeds in her heart to call her to full-time ministry. In discerning her call to ministry she realized she desired to serve with Saint Paul’s Outreach. As St. Teresa of Calcutta felt a calling to work with the “poorest of the poor” in India, Amy also felt a calling to serve students in the United States who she believes to be the most spiritually poor.
Amy has been serving with Saint Paul's Outreach at the University of St. Thomas for these past two years. It was a gift to be able to continue to foster relationships with students she had already built relationships with during her time as a student. It was also a great blessing to see who the Lord brought into her life! This upcoming year in service, Amy will be moving from the frigid North to the Sunshine State! Please pray for her as she begins this new season of ministry at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. She is excited to see how the Lord is going to work in her and through her! Also, pray for her to continue to continue to grow deeper in His love, for it is through this we are set free and we are able to set others free (Luke 4:18).
